Appearance: Shaved light brown hair with a small, typical service patch on top. Green eyes. Shaven beard and mustache. Several tattoos. Some, old battle worn scars. Pretty strong for someone of six feet one inch.

   

Personality: As a Navy brat, he is upbeat, a bit arrogant, professional on the job. Quick. Highly energetic. Has plenty of stamina.

SGC History: When the Stargate program began building ever more ships in earnest, some roles were found to be lacking personnel generally drawn from Air Force candidates. Stargate command soon found those not only internationally, but from within the US Navy as navigators were sought out for the fleet. Ben’s name finally hit the lottery when he was called in for an interview in late 2010. Once he had signed on the dotted line his whole world had changed so much so he soon found himself in Adelaide South Australia at a secret facility somewhere out in the desert several hundred feet below, learning all about Star ships, real ones. Six weeks for his familiarization, another six weeks on the Hammond in further training, before he finally earned his place on the new ship UNS Okinawa.
   

   
Personal History: Born in Annapolis, Maryland  and raised as an only child within the family allotments that sprawled around the huge naval base in that City. He lost his mother at a very young age while his father was away at sea. As the closeness of the Navy community went it wasn’t long before his dad arranged for another family friend on the base to take care of him. He made friends with a boy he grew up with, his name was Cameron. They eventually became brothers, well as much as friends could be brothers. Ben would occasionally see his father, but it was mostly video cams and postage letters.

During his adolescent years, he trained in the gym to participate in sparring or MMA-type fighting. He was into several different types of fighting including Muay Thai and Krav Maga. These types of skills were useful for his entrance in joining the Navy.

When he and Cam were of age, they joined the academy together. Cameron trained to be a fighter pilot, Ben was more down to earth. He was fascinated by the stars and studied both cartography,  meteorology and astronomy. During the academy, Ben and Cameron learned a lot about survival and physical fitness as part of their induction into Naval life. From there knowing how unbalanced the world was, they both jumped into the first self defence course on offer on the base. Both relished in those new skills and the basic weapons handling that filled a good part of their training; at least as much as a Naval officer would need.

When they graduated, they were assigned to their respective courses for the next phase of their Naval lives. It was three years before they saw each other again when both were posted to the USS John C Stennis.
